LJ Layoffs

[info]samajh pointed this out to me just a few minutes ago.

"The bubble in social networking has burst, decisively. LiveJournal, the San Francisco-based arm of Sup, a Russian Internet startup, has cut about 20 of 28 employees — and offered them no severance, we're told.

[...]

The company's product managers and engineers were laid off, leaving only a handful of finance and operations workers — which speaks to a website to be left on life support. Matt Berardo, a Yahoo executive hired on last summer, is also believed to be gone."

Perhaps the end of LJ is nigh!

Heh. This is from my acquaintance, Morgan, at his blog:

P.S. For those that have asked, my new LJ icon is actually a bunny rabbit trying to get out of his cage.

Content Strike

I just heard this afternoon about the content strike thing going on.

I must say, in the most compassionate yet stern terms, that this is fucking stupid.

I am forever surprised by the self-assigned importance that certain groups of LJ users assign to themselves. It is amazing. I hate to break it to you folks but SUP doesn't care if you have a content strike.
